What do I see when I close my eyes?

Funny question…ain’t ever really thought on that before.

Sometimes I see nothin’ at all. Them’s the nights when I crawl to my bunk and collapse, when the Cap’n’s been ridin’ my backside the whole day ‘bout gettin’ the engine up to scratch that I haven’t had a minute to myself. You know that sayin’ ‘dead tired’? That’s how I feel at the end of those days. An’ I sleep that sleep of the dead where I see nothin’, just black til mornin’ comes an’ I gotta start again.

Guess it depends what’s been on my mind, leads to me seein’ different things behind my eyelids. I’ll think on the moons we been to, or the people we met. I see the crew sometimes. The cap’n an’ his goofy smile, Inara’s hands runnin’ through my hair, makin’ me feel like maybe I could be as pretty as her, Jayne bein’ a big oaf.

For a while I couldn’t shut my eyes without seein’ Jubal Early. Took to stayin’ up all night. Sleepin’ in the daytime when there was folks up and around. Was Inara who saw it first, made me talk it through, tell her my nightmares. Funny how sayin’ things out loud can make them seem not so bad, huh? Got easier to close my eyes after that.

Lately I been seein’ Simon. Mostly he has his shirt off. Now and again he has more off than that. Some things I see him doin’ make me blush to look at him in the daylight. But he ain’t ever laid a finger on me. So I guess I better get used to closin’ my eyes a lot.

Much of this I love - Shirtless Simon, however, makes me think about taking tops off in engine rooms and I get all guilty that I haven't written the third fic in the Kaylee/Inara series (I am going to get around to that one day) - which I do realise has nothing to do with you or your writing but sometimes it's just all about me!!

I like the dead sleep and the trauma over Jubal (and that Inara helped her with this and of course I adore Inara’s hands runnin’ through my hair, makin’ me feel like maybe I could be as pretty as her :) )

I love how Shirtless!Simon makes you think of Inara/Kaylee!!! I've already told you never to feel guilty about fic, written or otherwise. I understand. Write it when you have time or when the muse strikes.

In each of the four gen pieces I've written for Kaylee for these challenges, Inara has been mentioned. I think she's possibly the only crew member to make it into all of them...I might be wrong.

I have Inara as my character in the next round (YAY!) so we'll see if Kaylee makes an appearance in each of those.

Yay for Inara both in appearance and as the next character!!!!!!! I hope that Kaylee makes lots and lots of appearances
