A/N: So I was listening to Madonna and this happened. I did resist calling it 'Shiny and new'. Because I thought that would be going just too far.

Your hands graze my skin and I am alive. I’ve been touched by hundreds, thousands, never like this. Your lips are soft on my ear; your words make me cry. Our mouths meet and I want stop time, to freeze this perfection. For so long my head has ruled me, you found a way to my heart. Your hand moves again, down, down, inside. A cry escapes my throat unbidden; I can’t remember that ever happening. As my muscles clench and shudder, I surrender my soul to you in a sweet kiss.

I have absolutely no class and feel that Shiny and New would have been a perfectly acceptable title.

I will digress for a second and mention the fact that You make it feel like the first time. Totally took me to the discussion of this song in Reservoir Dogs (which was a little disturbing)

OK back to the rest of the fic. A cry escapes my throat unbidden; I can’t remember that ever happening. I love the idea of things being different with Kaylee (I'm assuming that this is from Inara's POV??), that it's the same motions but they are somehow changed, more important and her responses are different and this I surrender my soul to you is just so very, very, very, very beautiful - you totally rock.

Totally took me to the discussion of this song in Reservoir Dogs (which was a little disturbing) - Yes, that is disturbing and not where I intended you to go :) However, reading the line now (You make it feel like the first time.) makes me think of a completely different song than the one that inspired it. It makes me think of 'Amazed' by Lonestar. 'Oh it feels like the first time, every time, I wanna spend the whole night, in your eyes'. OK, so I just stuck that song on to check the lyrics (which is lucky, because I'd completely typed the wrong ones) and I realised that someone should totally make an Inara/Kaylee video to it! It's perfect.

I'm assuming that this is from Inara's POV? - Yes it is. For all I love writing in Kaylee's voice, it's Inara's POV that keeps coming into my head.

OK, so 'Amazed' just finished and 'Tell her' came on and it could totally be a Mal/Inara song. I think Joss Whedon must've been listening to his Lonestar album when writing Firefly. Either that or my brain has become completely addled by all of this Firefly stuff and I just relate everything to the verse. Not sure which it is.

that it's the same motions but they are somehow changed - When listening to 'Like a Virgin', the line that stood out was 'touched for the very first time' and I thought this could easily be applied to Inara. Because we know so very little about her past (other than the fact that she's been studying to be a companion since she was 12) we might assume that she's never been in love, and quite possibly never had sex with anyone that wasn't either for practice or for money. So attraction and reaction would be new experiences for her the first time she did feel something for someone.

Yes, that is disturbing and not where I intended you to go :) Ah that would be me - special talent - taking things to were they were totally not meant to go. You write a drabble on love I imagine a movie were a guy's ear gets cut off to Stuck in the Middle with You!!!
