AUTHOR'S NOTES: This was prompted by a comment made by Dianna Agron in this vid. And also by [livejournal.com profile] kben saying that we needed jealous!Lea fic.

Chris finds her in the communal area, cursing at an unopened soda can.

“Did it bite you?” he asks, conversationally.

Lea looks up at him quickly, a formidable scowl in place.

“No, it broke my damn nail,” she says, holding up her right index finger and glaring at the offending can.

“Mmmmhmmm,” Chris says. “And do you want to tell me who pissed in your muesli this morning?”

She rolls her eyes and tosses the can in the direction of the trash, it misses by a considerable margin.

“I’m not in the mood, Chris. Leave me alone,” she says, pushing past him to leave.

“She thinks it’s something she’s done, by the way,” Chris calls after her, effectively halting her exit.

She turns slowly.

“What could she possibly have done?” she asks, the words containing a slight bite.

“Beats me,” Chris says. “I can’t imagine that sweet girl ever doing anything that would cause you to be as crabby as you’ve been today, missy. I’m pretty sure Mark was trying not to cry after you yelled at him about messing up the choreography. And don’t even try to pretend I didn’t see you stealing a slice of Cory’s decidedly non-vegan pizza at lunch.”

She looks at the ground.

“What’s up?” he asks, his voice softer than before.

“You’ll think it’s stupid,” Lea says.

“Probably,” he agrees. “I never claimed to understand the strange ways of the lady gays, but if listening to your little lesbian drama means I don’t have to see her looking like someone just told her unicorns don’t exist, I’ll do it.”

“I watched that interview you guys did,” Lea says, still not making eye-contact with him.

“Yeah, gonna have to be more specific, honey,” Chris says.

“The one with Kristin,” Lea explains.

Chris scrunches up his brow in thought.

“Aaaaand…” he prompts.

“And she was talking about how ‘excited’ she was about Idina coming on the show,” Lea says with an eyeroll, as if Chris should have known exactly what she was referring to.

“Uh huh…I believe I may have also expressed a little excitement at the prospect of that,” Chris says. “Not really getting how this has turned you into Attila the Hun.”

“God! You do know that Idina Menzel was the reason she first questioned her sexuality, right?” Lea huffs at Chris’s lack of understanding.

“Idina was her first crush? Really? That’s so sweet!” Chris exclaims, but refrains from clapping when he senses that this was not the reaction Lea was looking for.

“So you see my problem?” Lea asks.

“Not…really,” he says. “I see that your girlfriend has quite a specific type, but other than that…”

She just stares at him and it clicks.

“Oh God, you’re jealous!” Chris says. “Oh this is too precious.”

“That’s it, I’m not talking to you about this anymore,” she says, turning to stomp off.

But he catches up with her and hooks his arm through hers and holds on tight as she tries to pull away.

“No you’re not, but there is someone you need to speak to about it,” he says, opening the door to one of the practice rooms and dragging her inside.

Dianna is sitting at the piano and she looks up at the abrupt entrance. She smiles tentatively and Chris watches Lea smile back automatically, because no-one can resist that smile.

“I have uncovered the reason behind the Cruella DeMichele act,” Chris announces.

“The Cru-…I never said that!” Dianna protests, getting up off the piano stool and approaching them.

“No, I did. And the rest of you were all thinking it,” Chris says, well aware that his status as the youngest cast member allows him to get away with saying things that would get the others decapitated. “Anyway, your stupid girlfriend apparently thinks that Ms Menzel’s appearance on our show is going to result in Idina whisking you away to indulge in a torrid love affair. Ow!”

Lea just punched him and it hurts. Dianna’s staring at Lea open mouthed and Lea is glaring at him.

“I can’t believe you just told her that.”

“I can’t believe you punched me!”

“I can’t believe you’re jealous!”

Lea’s head whips around so that she’s facing Dianna.

“Is it really so irrational? People remark on the similarities between us all the time. So forgive me if I’m slightly worried about an older, more successful, better looking version of me with a better voice is going to be hanging around here. Not to mention that she was your first crush and that yo-”

Dianna steps forward and silences Lea with a kiss. Chris rubs his arm and wishes it was always that easy.

When Dianna pulls away she’s looking at Lea disapprovingly.

“I’m sort of mad at you,” she says, but she’s holding Lea’s hand which takes away any sting that might have been in her words.

“But I was only…she was…” Lea protests.

“My first crush, yes. But you…you are my first love,” Dianna says with no hint of embarrassment.

Chris watches as Lea’s bad mood almost visibly melts right in front of him. She moves her hands to Dianna’s hips and pulls the other girl against her, melding their bodies together as she tilts her head back to receive a tender and lasting kiss.

“I love you too,” Lea whispers against Dianna’s mouth.

“Excuse me, vomiting in the corner now,” Chris says, but they both ignore him.

“And just for the record, I don’t think she’s better looking than you, nor do I think she’s got a better voice,” Dianna says, stroking Lea’s cheek with her thumb. “And I’ve never met her, but I doubt she’s a better person than you because you’re the best person I know.”

“OK, I put up with the lovey-dovey stuff for the sake of the rest of the cast’s safety and sanity, but I think dissing Idina Menzel means that I am duty-bound to slap you now, Ms D,” Chris says.

Dianna finally draws her eyes away from Lea and looks at him.

“I think I could take you, Colfer,” she says, smiling.

Lea turns so that her back is resting against Dianna’s front, Dianna’s chin on her shoulder, her arms loosely around Lea’s waist.

“And you’d have to come through me first,” she says, raising at eyebrow.

“Yeah, well…maybe I’ll let it slide this time,” Chris says. “And I’ll leave you two to do…whatever it is you do. I have to go back and let the others know that I have successfully tamed the She-Beast and that it’s safe to come out of their trailers now.”

“You do that,” Lea says as Dianna kisses her neck. “But could you make a special effort to get Naya out of our trailer? And tell her it’s going to be out of bounds for a while.”

“Yes. And ew.”

“Thanks Chris,” Lea says, even as she’s turning in Dianna’s arms to meet her lips.

“You’re welcome,” he calls over his shoulder.

He exits the room before he witnesses anything further but hesitates when he remembers something. He probably should go back in and tell them that Naya and Heather had disappeared into their trailer with an express request not to be disturbed as they were ‘running lines’.

He decides against it. He’s already done his good deed for the day. He heads on his merry way to find Kevin and make a bet on how many times Naya will curse when she’s interrupted. He’s going to go for thirty-seven.
