Various Drabbles
Have been drabbling some lately, here they are.
Title: Voyeuse
Prompt: RPF::Chenzel::Cupcakes (requested by
faithinthepoor)
Rating: PG-13
Word-count: 200
Michelle allows her eyes to drift over her colleagues, seated on the wooden floor waiting for Joe, like children waiting for story time.
Norbert is picking his nose. Another check in the ‘No way am I ever dating that man’ column. Christopher is asleep, sitting up. William is flicking raisins at him and getting no response.
And Idina, well, Idina has their resident Broadway diva firmly ensconced in her lap. And she looks incredibly happy about it.
Kristin is eating what looks to be a cupcake with pink icing. Michelle rolls her eyes. Idina catches Kristin’s wrist and brings the cupcake to her own mouth, licking a stripe right through the icing. Kristin smacks her thigh but Idina just grins, her lips and teeth pink. Michelle fights the urge to gag.
Kristin eyes the cupcake for a second, before lifting it to her mouth and allowing her tongue to follow the trail Idina’s had made, all the time watching Idina over her shoulder. Idina leans in and whispers something in her ear, causing Kristin to giggle. Idina wraps her arms around Kristin’s waist and Kristin leans back into her.
Michelle’s eyebrow goes up. These two are certainly worth a watching.
Title: Heart & hearth
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Eulogy
Pairing: Judy/Lucy
Prompt: smoke requested by
faithinthepoor
A/N: A trio of 100 word drabbles (a tribble?) from Judy's POV during the movie.
On the way here I picked up a pack of smokes. I quit last week. But I told her there was no way that I could make it through this trip without nicotine. And what do you know? Here less than ten minutes and where am I? Outside sucking the life out of a cigarette. Her sister gets to me. I shouldn’t let her get to me but she does and that makes it even worse. The door opens and Alice comes out, drink in hand. Guess nobody’s going to survive this thing without drugs of one sort or another.
*
It feels kinda nice to be smoking dope in my girlfriend’s parents’ basement. Makes me feel young again, as opposed to the happily almost married, thirtysomething I am in reality. I don’t know if it’s the weed or not, but I don’t think I’ve ever been as in love with Lucy as I am right now. She is so adorable it makes my heart hurt to think that she’s mine. She makes me laugh ‘til I cry and when she draws me to her for a kiss I couldn’t care less that her pervy brother is in the room watching.
*
We stand together, her hand in mine, as her nephews fire flaming arrows at her father’s coffin, leaving thin tendrils of smoke in their wake. Despite the absurdity of it all, it makes me realise that this is what it’s all about. It’s about family and making allowances and love. This family, weirdness aside, are here for each other when they need it most. And I’m sort of happy to be a part of it. Lucy starts to cry and I pull her against me, kissing her head. They start to sing. Then the coffin explodes. This is my family.
Title: Momma always says...
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Popular
Pairing: Mary Cherry/Lily
Prompt: power requested by
faithinthepoor
Word count: 100
Money is power. That’s what her momma says. And when Cherry Cherry talks, you listen. Even when she’s telling you how unfortunate it is that you didn’t inherit her brains, or her looks, or her hair.
But even without brains and great hair, Mary Cherry has power because she has money. Lily has no money, therefore no power. Mary Cherry aims to use this to her advantage.
Moneyless, powerless people can surprise you. When Mary Cherry offers Lily a lot of money for some sex, she gets a slap across the face.
Turns out, Lily will do it for free.
Title: Tell
Fandom: Murder in Suburbia
Pairing: Ash/Scribbs
Prompt: 85 - Truth
Word Count: 250
Rating: PG-13
Scribbs drops the crime-scene photo to the desk in frustration. She looks over to see Ash deep in concentration.
“Why do we do this, eh? Why don’t we go out and get jobs as blimmin’ waitresses?”
“Probably because you’re lucky if you can carry your own cup of coffee without spilling it, never mind a tray-full.”
Scribbs smiles. It fades quickly.
“No…but seriously…why do we do it?”
Ash looks up, pinning her with those confident, unwavering eyes.
“We do it to get to the truth. That’s why it’s hard. If we took the first story we were given it’d be too easy, wouldn’t it?”
Scribbs leans back in her chair.
“S’pose so. Oh well, back to detecting it is then.”
“The world of catering heaves a sigh of relief.” Ash mumbles.
They sit in silence until Ash scrapes her chair back and stands, stretching slightly.
“You made me fancy a coffee. Want one?”
“Sure you can carry two? Actually, they probably taught you that at ‘Mallory Towers Home for Upper Class Young Ladies’ didn’t they? How to carry cups with your pinkie sticking out.”
“Yeah, had it on Fridays between flower arranging and riding side-saddle. Take it that’s a ‘no’ on the coffee front, then?” Ash says over her shoulder.
“That’s a ‘Yes please’.” Scribbs yells at her retreating back.
Scribbs puts her feet up on the desk, dropping her head back and closing her eyes.
“The truth. Then how come that’s the one bloody thing I can’t tell you?”
